Demerit Points In Ontario

Demerit points are seen as an additional charge on top of the fine you receive for traffic related offences. They stay on your driving record for two years from when they are received.

If you accumulate too many demerit points, you will lose your license. The insurance companies look at your demerit points and overall record when quoting you on a policy.

Otherwise they will accrue and build up, and then before you know it, your license will be suspended. This will absolutely ruin your insurance rates, costing you a fortune in the long run.
